SP22 | Good American | Seamless, Sweats & Essentials
It’s been awhile, but I’m finally getting around to showcasing the product I had put into development during my time at Good American. The products shown here are styles that are currently on the website now. Just know, there is more to come later once launched on the website! In the meantime, what I worked on for our Spring 2022 collection are mostly Sweats & Essentials, and Seamless. For this season, our main concepts were High Shine, and Rugby Polo/Military. In seamless world, you’ll notice that we focused heavily on our matte/shine yarns. You’ll see this spread across our core bodies in different surface designs; croc, checker, and plaited wide rib. This was a co-creation concept that we developed with our seamless vendor in order to refresh our seamless assortment. The focus for my Sweats & essentials category, leaned more towards Military concept, and was more about using innovative and sustainable fabric choices in lieu of traditional fleece or french terry. I ended up using an organic chunky cotton thermal waffle knit for our core styles, along with a few new silhouettes, with a few key detail updates here & there, like pop color reverse coverstitch thread & contrast woven plackets. We also tied back our seamless activewear to our essentials by co-creating with our vendors a new waffle knit seamless construction. It came out beautifully, but with a lot more stretch than anticipated. In addition to our waffle knit innovation, I also focused on new fit innovation for our core heavy fleece program as a way to tie back to our denim fits and RTW. Our two new fits include the Relaxed Straight Leg and Cropped Fleece Polo. Both of which were made domestically this year, as opposed to overseas with are usual vendors. It posed some challenges along the way, but I’m happy that it came it well done. Last but not least, our newest core silhouette, the Baby Tee, we also translated across our new fabric this season, shiny rayon jersey, as a tie back to our High Shine concept.
