April & May 2021 Showroom | Justfab
This was a one-off design I did, for a late-add injection for Kelly Rowland’s capsule.
I loooooove how these look in our plus sizing!
This is probably my favorite jacket design for this showroom, along with the Tweed Elvira Strong Shoulder Blazer.
The jeans actually have a pin tuck detail, not really a pleat. We changed it at fitting stage because it made the crotch look puffy.
This silhouette along with the Rigid Slim, was one of the challenges we had with leg shapes and making sure they looked and fit different enough from each other. The Vintage Tapered is based on the Mom Fit, with a straighter leg and slightly higher waist, whereas the Rigid Slim is meant to be like the Cigarette fit, much more slimmer in the leg- but still allow the wearer to be able to bend their knees since this is rigid.
I wish I had added “Destroyed” somewhere in the description… This style is the same fit as the High Waist Vintage Tapered, but with destroy details (ripping, knicking, grinding).
TBH this fit was no different from the Rigid Slim- both leg shapes are pretty similar. In hindsight, I should have looked at the whole range of rigid styles for the next three-six months to make sure these styles didn’t cannabalize each other. Also, we needed to slowly ease our customer into this new fit of jeans, because she was definitely not aware of the huge fit difference between our stretchy styles and rigid styles.
If there was one thing I could go back and change, it would be the armhole.
This fit was actually based on a Zara Jacket. I’m very happy that I got to keep most of the details I designed for this style, and that it is considered part of the core collection. You’ll notice that it has a lot of reviews, however this style was just introduced on the website in Mar 2021. There is the glitch in the system that will overwrite a previous style with the new product, if it shares the same style name/description. So if you see any comments or reviews before Mar 2021, those comments were in regard to a previous style w/ the same name.
The overall look and fit of the style came out the way I wanted, but the artwork was my biggest issue with it. Ideally, any artwork that is tie dye or water color like, should be digitally printed or sublimated, but unfortunately that would have drove the cost up and reduced our margin. However, I made it work with the reduced amount of colors I indexed down to, and am happy that the engineered placement, as that was extra work in itself.
This was actually introduced in a previous season, however it wasn’t shot on model until now. It looks great on her! This is one of my favorite sports bra designs.
This is another sports bra I designed that came out very cute. lf you noticed recently…fabletics also created a very similar looking style. I wondered if we both were inspired by the same thing haha.
Another one of my favorite designs in activewear.
Included in both showrooms you’ll see some familiar silhouettes from previous season (i.e. Kelly Rowland City blazer & shorts) , just introduced in new colors and also in plus sizing- which look amaaaaazing on the model! You’ll also notice my breakout moment into denim world. I started out doing denim jackets previously, and slowly started to progress into jeans and shorts beginning with March 2021 showroom. This transition started because there was a need to elevate our jeans fit range, offering more than just the classic Bootylifter and Tummy Tamer. So I began to design into rigid fit jeans because this was becoming the new trend all over the market. It was a challenge at first with just picking the right base fabric at our target cost, torquing issues of course, and distinguishing different leg shapes and waist levels, but ultimately it came together pretty well! While my focus started to shift towards denim, I hadn’t realized how much my activewear started taking off. The new bra and legging silhouettes and details we’re really paying off; and to see my designs finally on a model since Covid restrictions were easing, was an even bigger plus. The new basics & essentials were also resonating well with our customers. Overall, I’d say this was the turning point for Justfab’s apparel offerings, and I’m glad I got to be apart of it.
